"Subwoofer problems"

I tried to wire my Audiobahn amp up to the factory JBL system in my 97 using the high level input and it did not work. I went up to the local audio shop to ask the guy what the problem could be because I can't get a response on here and he told me that I needed a line level convertor to get it to work properly. I then had to go to best buy to get one for $22. I went home and wired it up expecting it to work then and still no sound from the speaker. The amp gets power and I know the thing works but I get NO sound! A detailed wire diagram or any information at all would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone else had problems doing this or am I alone in the dark???

Just use the speaker level inputs on your amplifier with the OUTPUT wires from the amplifier going to the WOOFERS, not the tweeters.

Thank you very much, that is the diagram that I needed! The diagram that I had before was for the tweeters I guess and that is what I had them wired up to. DOH! Thanks Cal, I have to work tonight but I will wire it up tomorrow and tell ya how everything goes. Again, thank you.

Well, got everything wired up and it finally works! I had to swap amps and try a different one because the amp would power up and the fan would blow but the power LED would not light up...odd. So I switched amps and the other amp got no power at all and I know that I had it wired to the battery correctly. I then figured it would have to be the remote wire and it was. I had it hooked to the blue wire on one of the connectors which from a different diagram it said was the remote wire. Was it just not putting out enough power to actually power the amp up or what? I then hooked it directly to a hot wire so I have to take it out every time I get out of the car but it is better than nothing. If I have to leave it that way I will just wire up a toggle switch and leave it at that. Any thoughts on what to do? Thank you Cal and the rest who have helped in this troublesome journey of my system install! I really appreciate this board and all the great people that post on it!
