"Attn: Pearl White Owners"

Hello to all,

I have a 93 Pearl White, and it seems that I can never keep the car clean, esp. around the bottom rocker panels. I use the Meguires 3 step wax system about 4x a year. The car looks smooth, and shiny, but it looks like there is dirt "embedded" in the paint and can't get it out. Any tips. Thanks...

Also, who has painted there chrome trim white. I want to see how that would look. Have a good one.

Yes the stains are embedded and unfortunatly a repaint is necessary to totally fix them. I to suffer from this problem.

Dont think you are the only one. I have a black car, and there are stains embedded into my paint down low too. Yes, they are visible. especially that white crap... looks like gravel chips, but I think its road lane paint.

Have you guys tried the clay Meguires sells to remove imbedded paint problems? It is to be used with their quick detailer. You spray a small area with the detailer and then take the clay (flattened-out) and rub the surface. You'll see the contaminates and crap right on the clay, and your paint will feel as smooth as glass.

Thanks for the tip but I tried that
It took off all contaminants but the stains directly behind the wheels wont come out.
The stains are deep but the paint still looks great especially for an 11 year old car.

it's been reported that using armor all on the tires can cause this.

There was a post somewhere here that said not to use the tire prep stuff like wet 'n' black becuase it slings off the tires and stains the paint perminatly. I've had the best luck using alcohol pads on tough spots like road tar, even on places where a clay bar won't work. The alcohol is pretty hard on the finish so be carful and rewax the area when finished.

For tar removal, I've found Simple Green wipes work great. It takes a little more work, but it doesn't attack the finish. And definately stay away from tire dressings...they stain your finish regardless of the paint color.

I used the clay fine cut from Car Brite with no sucess. As for tire dressing, what are my options for having a shine to the tires. As for the plastic mud flaps in the same body color, what do you think..

Is it possible to paint the bottom panels or it's not going to happen because the fade of the pearl white is not going to match. Thanks ladies and gents.

I'd have to vote a big NO for mud flaps...they're for trucks.
You could try that clear film that clings but is removable. I've seen it pre-cut for Mustangs, but I can't recall where.

The following Tint place has pre-cut film for front ends. They could probably do any part of a car. I had actually never heard of this kind of stuff before. Wonder how good/transparent it would look???

We used to use baking soda to remove stuff. I'd test it in a hidden place first.

Step 1) 1500 wet sand paper until finish and dirt is gone
Step 2) Machine rubbing compound it
Step 3) Machine glazing compound it
Step 4) Machine finishing compound it
Step 5) Wax it
All products are 3M products. Cost will be about $50.00 for each compound.
The 'after' finish will be better than factory.
The same method will remove the factory orange peel that is on every new car. Make sure you test the finish by using a flourecent tube in the reflection. Factory paint jobs make the tube look wavy, after doing this to my car the tube is straight and smooth.

Jim
