"Leather reuphostery kits for Gen 1"

LAST EDITED ON Apr-21-02 AT 04:48 PM (EDT)

Does anyone know of a source for the Gen 1 leather reupholstery for the front seats. I would like to recover the drivers seat in my wife's 96?

Also, is there a part number for the leather "glove" on the steering wheel. I would like that too.

As always, many thanks to all.

Thats great, we base our prices on what we pay for them.

>Why are

There actually not expensive when comparitve shopping.

The pics

I have no idea who's site you are referring too?

Either you
>took it from him, he
>took it from you ,
>or you both took it

That is quite possible many companies multi-source.

Our prices do however include headrests and any color change/2-tone you desire.

You could also check with Five-Star Ford in AZ. Last week I asked about replacing the driver's seat leather in my car. I was quoted $251 for the seat cushion and $261 for the seat back. These is for brand new replacement leather.

I looked at both site and I can't find the savings...

Geno's kit is around a $1,000
One of the site sells the kit for $999.00
The other list the kit for $995.00

I don't know where the savings is at...

I merely provided those links for the pictures and styles of leather thats all. I know I saw those for nine and change.

Be advised that new foam is needed to get the new look. The new seats will look wrinkled with the old foam.

   Try this...http://www.egclassic.com/

You can call and ask for Lee Clary at 1-800-394-2774...he has owned Mark VII's and knows our Lincoln products well.

E&G Classics is the supplier to all the best auto trim shops in the U.S. 100% top quality materials and craftsmanship. I can tell you from my past experences in the automotive trim shop business that their product will hold up longer/better than ANY original manufacturers leather. All thier kits can be ordered in marching colors and special ordered with perforations, embroidery, two-tone, ask Lee for the options.

Tell Lee svogary said HI!!!!

Good Luck!

Have you tried Katzkin. They have a HUGE selection of colors and preformed seat covers. Alot of dealers use this company to replace the seat covers on cars that do not come with leather. Here's a link:
http://www.katzkin.com/SITE/HTML/index.html

I would check them out....they can even do semi custom jobs as well. They already have our seat covers in stock.

As far as replacing the foam - is there pre-fabbed shaped seat foam for this, or do you just stuff it as you see fit? Sorry for the ignorance but I have no experience with reskinning seats.

I built mine back up with a few layers of foam stripping.

The leather cut dictates the shape, so yes you can "stuff it"!

Is this something you can do yourself? The Mark I'm looking at is good everywhere but the front seats. Wrinkled and a bit discolored. Back ones are fine though.

What's the basic procedure? Are there zippers or clamps of some kind that you remove or are they sewn shut?
