"Carlisle 2003 - 353 days to go"
 
I have already started the planning for next year's All Ford Carlisle event on May 30 - June 1, 2003.

I have reserved the conference room on Friday May 30, 2003 and the banquet hall on Saturday May 31, 2003 at the Camp Hill Radisson. I made the reservations tentatively for 125 people. I think everyone that was at this year's banquet agrees that the food was great. I thought the crab cake appetizers were exceptional.

I think we can make more judging categories for next year's event. Certainly, the Mark VII's can be separated into stock and modified. We can possibly break up the the modified Mark VIII's into 1993-94, 1995-96 and 1997-98. The only problem with that is that we need to get 7 second generation modified cars to make a class. This year only 2 modified second generation cars showed up.

Does anyone have any ideas for next year's event? Who's coming to All-Ford Carlisle 2003?

No doubt.....I will be there.....and it will be great to be removed from the modified first gens.....like I stand a chance against Geno's car....or Chris' car for that matter (unless everything can get done for next year). I know that my brother will be there as well.....I already scheduled vacation for those days again.....and next year I WILL have a digital either camera....or camcorder....and I will be there Thursday night, instead of Friday morning.

   It would have been nice for the Collector's Editions to have been down with all the rest of the Mark VIIIs instead of way up the line on the other side of the Mark VIIs.

Otherwise, it was a great event.

I hope to be able to be there next year for more than just the day. My Dad is hotter than ever now to find himself a 98 CE (must be Cordovan), and is already working on my Mom why he needs to replace his 98 LSC (it was the Torreador Red one parked near the LOD tent, right next to Geno). Knowing my Dad, he will find himself the CE and then find reasons that he can't sell the LSC -- he's managed to avoid selling any of his Lincolns by giving them to my sister or to me. She got the two Town Cars (both of which I refused) while I got the 94 Mark VIII. If he doesn't have a CE by then, he will probably come to the show with his absolutely (garage kept) perfect 85 Town Car. I don't care to drive it, but it sure is in great shape.

Can we try to get more space next year? We were squeezing them in there pretty tight on Saturday.

I think I may have to get a second job to pay for the mods I want by the next time I go to Carlisle

when i looked at the Carlisle web sight it has the CE listed as MarkVII not MarkVIII so i guess that is why they where on the opposite side away from the other VIIIs. as far as space goes, the early people register will give the Carlisle people a heads up on how much room to give and maybe even get us more classes

I'll be back at Carlisle in 2003. It was a great time and I plan on having a few mods on the old Mark by them myself. I liked Johnny’s rice modification probably the only way to tell the black 2nd gens apart.

   I will be there for sure! Hopefully with a slightly modified 2nd Gen . . . all VIII's together in 2003, I hope? We really enjoyed talking to Rocky Carle and his wife at the show and the dinner, but they were sooooooooooo far away! I think "The Prez"
should be able to park right by the tent to cart all his gear back and forth, too.

   Carol and I will be back for 2003, first gen stock class. If I am able to get the HID lights, would that force me into the mod class?

We had a great time meeting some of the members and looking forward to seeing ya'll next year.

   I definately plan on being there.I dont give up easily.If all goes as planned I will have two marks there.A totaly redone gen 1 and a modified gen 2.I think I am going to make the BEAST a dedicated race car and build a more fun daily driven gen 2.Now when I say daily driver dont expect anything docile.It should be the fastest gen 2 around.(I think) has anyone built a gen 2 ???
A new motorhome is without a doubt going to be used to make the trip reasonable.Along with a new enclosed trailor.

Most definately Bill because next year I'm sure the guidelines will be changed to ACTUALLY say most miles driven in a markVIII.

I will be there next year. Hopefully everyone will stick around longer than they did this year. Everyone ran off sunday morning.
I jsut want to take my car, and someone to help me with the drive. 4000 miles on one guy is torture.

   Same here Johnny. I'm going to try and get up there by Thurs. night next year. Everything was a bit too rushed for my taste. Well we all know I will be there- with a slew of new mods. My car will finally get a healthy, and well deserved, dose of LMS East(and even a little of West) if all works out the way I plan.

Forget Carlisle 2003...
What about Carlisle 2004...where I hope to reveal a wicked gen 2....=)

I think with the way Murphy's law was acting on some of our long distnce drivers, we will also have a "longest distance walked to Carlisle" award next year.

I really hope we don't need to award it to anyone.
