"Relative Compression Test"

My 1998 CE has been running a little rough and has had a lack of power.
I took it to the dealership and they did a relative compression test. They said cylinder #1 was at 20% and that they wanted to change all plugs, boots, ignition coil #1, and do a fuel system cleaning.
All 8 plugs and boots have been replaced in the last 6 months (3000 miles or so).
What does a compression test have to do with an ignition boot or a spark plug anyway?
When I got home I used my infared thermometer to check exhaust manifold temperatures and the number 1 cylinder was at about 250F. Number 5 was at 450F and number 8 was at 550F. I couldn't really get to the other ones. I swapped #1 and #5 ignition coils and boots and the exhaust manifold temps stayed the same.
I stopped by Auto Zone and borrowed one of their compression testers, and this is what I found:
All cylinders were between 180 and 185 psi.
The dealership said there weren't any codes and I don't have a check engine light. I'm thinking that maybe I need new fuel injectors.
What does everyone else think?

Nothing that I know of. Sort of sounds like the shop/mechanic did not know what it was talking about--or it was looking for a sucker.

Those are good readings.

That is certainly possible and might be why the shop was wanting to do a fuel system cleaning ( read as put some stuff in your gas tank for less than $10).

What you might try is removing the fuel injector connectors, one at a time, and see if you can tell a difference in engine run when you disable an injector. If there is no change then that injector is probably OK.

And you might try putting some injector cleaner in your gas tank. Injectors can get dirty, or just go bad. Not common ,but it can happen.

Hi, I just bought a VIII and it was running poorly and did not want to run on all cylinders correctly, I used the concentrated 20oz Chevron with techron fuel cleaner and can vouch for that making things so much smoother.. and the car now feels more lively.
