"Repair Manual for 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII"

Hi,

I would like to know where I can find a repair manual for the 1997 Mark VIII Base. I ordered a Haynes manual from am-autoparts.com that they said covered the 1997 Mark VIII, but the cover shows that it only cover the Mark series up to VII (1992). If one exists for the 1997 Mark VIII, please show me a cover of the manual so that I know what it looks like. Thanks.

That's not a true shop manual. Chilton & Hayes are very generic I would not waste money on. Go to the auction and look for used Lincoln Mark Vlll shop manuals. and or CD/DVDs (I spotted several vendors with DVDs for sale as little as $12.99). These are much better tools than Chiltons or Hayes manuals. Nice thing also is you can print the pages out and take them to you car to get all greasy.

Don't waste $12.99 getting a CD/DVD when it is available for free. I have the link and instructions for the 2nd gen CD download. If anyone wants them, PM me.

Unfortunately, my campus server won't let me download the file from Rapidshare. Is there another site that it is stored on that I can download it from? Thanks.

Charles,

I have Shop Manuals Vol 1 & Vol 2 as well as the wiring book. Those books have saved my a.. a few times and I take the whole book to the car. I envision one day every page will have my grease prints as a show of my utter love for the car or stupidity in keeping it.

Haynes, and especially Chiltons, manuals are horribly inadequate, frequently wrong, and not worth the money.
I've got a soft cover Chiltons that cover the Mark VIII (allegedly covers is a better phrase) and you wouldn't even know they were discussing a Mark VIII in that book. It's bird cage liner at best.

For an electrical/vacuum manual invest in a Helm publication. (got mine for 10 bucks off of eBay)
For the more detailed hardware a factory type manual would be the way to go. It's more expensive but worth it in the long run.

If you want to buy a new one or can't find a used one, try www.helminc.com . They sell the factory manuals. I bought the shop manual, EVTM, and a fold out wiring diagram for less than $80 for my '93 Mark. It has been an immense help in troubleshooting my many issues. Stephen
