"What's the Diffrence??"

What is the diffrence between the 4.6 mustang cobra engine and the 93' Mark 8 engine?
i've heard that the mustang uses secondary valves that open at 3,700 rpms or so, is that true and if so does the mark 8's have that too?

Give this a read. http://crunch.colorado.edu/~cobra/topics/96/jeff-white-paper.html
Same beginnings, different implementations. Used to be some pix of the throttle body butterfly's sequenced opening. Try the search, maybe the original poster will post again?

I think that the intake and exhaust may be better tuned. I also think that the Mark motor uses a milder cam. Whatever treatment the Cobra engine recieved is a relatively mild tune-up. I don't think anything is used that can't be bolted to a Mark engine, probably not worth the $$$.

the 93-96 mark uses a rear mounted throttle body/intake. the 97-98 uses the same side mounted design as a cobra. As far as internal differences I am unsure. Whatever they are the cobra motors really dont have much more than the marks (15HP or so). I'm sure that they're are plenty of mark engines out there putting down as much HP as their cobra counterparts. Our power loss is due mostly to a restrictive exhaust and an automatic trans.

If memory serves me correctly, I think I remember reading somewhere about the new Mustang Cobras having 320 HP. Ford was recalling a lot of Cobras because they were not producing the HP that they were advertised as having. I think it was due to the restrictive exhaust. I am most certain that it was in the MM&FF magazine. I'll have to look for it.
