"Your Profile"

For the people that want to hide your profile or don't put anymore than your name.
Please don't ask for help.
If you need to hide your info so we don't know where you live, your real name, if your male or female, or what ever else, it isn't wise to let us know your in a time of weakness with a problem.
The profile is there so you don't repeat info all the time.
It would also be nice if the people with the billboard signature would put that info in there also.

Sorry for being such a ass.

Randy
PS- I want to help when I can.

I agree but when I first came on I didn't bother with the profile. Once I got more familiar with everything I updated everything and try to keep it updated. One of the best reasons to put your info in is that people who live close will often come and help if you need it. This is a very helpful club. Randy seems very passionate about this but he's right. He just comes across a little...... passionate. LOL! Update your profiles so he can find a friend near him! Cool I just checked out your profile. I used to be into RC cars and planes. I will be in Dallas on the 5th. Are you coming to the tuning session?

Yes I will be there Friday morning.
I can't wait. I'm looking forward to meeting Jerry and who ever else shows up.
I haven't done any RC since I started this motor project.
I am looking forward to get back to it asap.

Yeah words are not my strength. Sorry, but I say what is on my mind. I tend to piss off some people. Not mad at anybody.

When you are not reading threads there are various tools at the top of the page, and one of them is "user". Click on that and it will take you to where you can update your profile.

Given how easy identity theft is, many people choose to leave details off publicly available web sites, because anyone anywhere in the world can get to it.

The more you give out, the easier it is for someone to get your identity, setup some credit cards, take out some loans, etc.

You put your birthday, full name and city up there, and it doesn't take much more to get a birth certificate. Then you can do some research and get the SSN. Once you have those, get a drivers license, then some credit cards....

Before you just whole sale say "screw that person, they don't have their name on there" you ought to respect thier privacy.

On the flip side, anyone asking for help who has not disclosed critical details (like the year of your car, or general location) needs to in order to recieve more accurate advice.

Scott

Ford cannot build a car like this today (the 1966 tbird) because the US government says it is not safe. It has no crumple zones, air bags, or other safety features such as what you'll find in say, a new Toyota. But hit a Toyota with one of these and see who loses!

I agree with Ranyama. I've wanted to post a message like his for months, but I didn't have the courage. I won't refuse to respond to someone because they haven't filled out there profile, but I am less likely to be quite as helpful. It is frustrating to have to ask someone for minor details so that I can give an accurate reply.

Conversely, I do have the courage to post my name, address, and birthdate. I will not live in fear of identity theft to the point of reclusion. These three items can easily be assimilated by anyone who wants them badly enough. You can't stop a thief!

Fill out your profiles!

Thanks Ranyama.

Dr. Dave,

Scott is a Mark owner since 5/99. He owns a 95 base model with some simple mods and more coming.

He is heavily into the internet as a hobby and was into the internet as a professional till the economy fell apart.

He's a strong interest in Cars, owning currently the above referenced Mark and a resto-mod 66 tbird. His family also owns other Lincolns and fords, as well as two 68 mustangs.

Scott is married with no children, but a nice Cat.

Scott has been on mark 8 forums since he bought his car (on accident, not knowing anything about the platform, but awe struck that such a vehical was in the price range) He was rescued by Calvin early on (late 99/early 2000) and brough here.

He is currenlty a moderator at another Lincoln forum.

Does that satisfy your curiosity?

The only thing missing from my profile is the specific year of my car and the city where I live. I'm not sure why that is a big issue, and I am really not sure why you guys want to pick a fight with me. Everyone has a right to their opinion.

Scott

I usually don't post on these matters, but......

I agree with Scott. How hard would it be to find someones address, after finding there name and city they live in. In this world we live in, you have to be carefull what info you let out. This info is free for the taking for any freak out there to use. I for one have had disturbing e-mails,phone calls and such from info I've provided on the net, but being a business man, I had no choice but to leave it on. Some people may not feel comfortable doing so.

As far as not helping someone JUST BECAUSE they didn't type what city they live in or there interests, well you do what you want. Myself and a few others will take up the slack.

I for one don't have to know where they live or anything about them in order to help them. I'm trying to help them with there car.

The post that finally sent me over the edge to say something, I did post a message directly to the guy with a answer to his question as I read the post. Once I typed my responce I noticed he didn't state if his car was the 93 or the 97. That is when I realized I was giving him the info on the 97 because I thought he had the 93. If he has the 97 I was going to give him info on a car he had and it would not answer his question.
Well I had time at that time to do research with the resources I have to answer his question. I probably will not have that time if I had to ask him some questions about his car.
It comes down to, if someone is going to help you, don't make it a hassle for them to get the proper info.
I like helping when I can.
Some people have the knowledge but not the time to check a post 4-5 a day.

I agree Randy. They should have all the "VEHICLE" info in the profile or better yet, in the post there asking a question in so someone doesn't have to go digging to help them with there car. I don't see any danger in putting THAT info on the net, what I do see as a potential problem, is there personal info(city they live in),which should only be revealed when asked for.

If they don't provide the info that you "require", if you don't have the time to ask the vehicle info, simply don't answer the question, and let someone else to the work....problem solved.
