Thanks, Glenn. This event has been put together by volunteers, that are all working very hard to make this happen. They all deserve the accolades. Calvin, for one, is a huge reason this event is even going to happen. My personal thanks to Calvin, Terry, Brian, Paul, Jim, and Steve for getting us this far, and thanks to all that are going to volunteer the day of the event! When do you think the participant page will be up on the SSHS9 website. This is usually a very interesting page for the participants and promotes even more people to register.

Interesting to see the degree of self-destruction going on in the SSHS9 thread at the SS Impala forum. And I thought the MM community had issues. My posts don't even get a second look anymore.

It seems that we now will have several 9 second MM cars at SSHS9. The Impalas are going to have the strongest run for "Big Dog" in years. It will be a great event to attend to see history being made.

Thanks again, Calvin, for your commitment to this event! This was the best one yet! Great pics, too!
I know Craig, It sucked not racing in the shootout, but I still had a great time! The belt did not get finished until eliminations started. Ryan had to drive all over Georgia to find a 113" belt in the morning, that was also very difficult to install for some reason. Aric usually can do this job himself in a few minutes. Not on this day...
The head unit has to be loosened up, and then the tensioner was giving them fits that is behind and under the head unit. They had 3 guys on top of the car, and one guy under, with the passenger side of the car in the air trying to get that thing on as quick as they could.
Then, I had a coolant air pocket that had to be burped. It puked about 1 1/2 gallons of fluid. With that, I got the message from Karma that it might not be a good day to race, so I tossed in the towel. This is the very first belt problem I have had since going supercharged. Most s/c guys jump a tooth and shred their belts. lol Not me, that bad boy was almost a clean snap in half.
The Mark is safely back home in it's cave, and I just polished off all the paw prints on the shiny stuff in the engine compartment for it's photo shoot coming up after this hurricane blows through. The local ATL car club I belong to - FPCOA, wants to have The Mark on the new poster that they are producing, with two other cars from the club.
Anyway, Not sure if I will try another 2k launch, after seeing what a pain it is to put a belt on this thing. BTW... There is a spare 113" belt in the trunk now Mike 11.751 @ 120.80 SSHS8 Class D Runner-Up Favorite Wendy quotes of The Mark: "WEEEEEEEEEEE" "Rides like a minivan..." "Nice hubcaps"

lol Marvin, Nope. She worked most of the day as a volunteer, like me.
lol Craig, Those guys that thrashed on the car to get the belt on are good friends of mine along with being the builders of the car. I told them last week that I was running the volunteer effort at the shootout, and they can run the car if they wanted to during the day because I would probably be busy with volunteer stuff anyway.
So, They really had no problem one way or another if I ran the car. They wanted to make sure I got home though, so I am grateful for that.
They had fun with all that work they did anyway. They had access to a pool of customer cars at the event. They got to drive and put their customer's orange Cobra street car in the 9's, and Steve's 810rwhp Marauder in the 10's.
All I know about the 2k launch was, that it felt real good until the tire shake... I agree, 2k with a 3800 stall tc should do just fine. Maybe it was just that perfect time for the belt to snap.
No different than with Gary's supercharged motor letting go on a 13 second pass. I was a ride along with him on friday night t&t, and it was very tame - like the on ramp merging on the interstate. You would think he could go like that forever... Mike 11.751 @ 120.80 SSHS8 Class D Runner-Up Favorite Wendy quotes of The Mark: "WEEEEEEEEEEE" "Rides like a minivan..." "Nice hubcaps"
