He meant 3.73, 4.10 IS a little high for everyday use I would think ---1995 Mark VIII---Hunter Green--- -Dynomax Ultraflow mufflers -Superchip -245/50 R16 Tires -Custom Airbox -K&N Air Filter -PIAA Ultrawhite Headlamps -LSC Wheels
Trust ive been running 4:10's in the mark viii platform since 1997,with no problems at all, remember we have such a TALL o/d gear that 4:10's feel right at home. For all the $$$ & labor involved in such a swap its not worth putting anything else in it.if your not going to graduate to a supercharger then go with the 4:10's. my girl drives & has been driving "KING MARK THE VIIITH" every single day since we got it.(i put the 4:10's in 2 weeks after purchase)i still get 22 mpg on the message center's average.for more info give me a call @ lincolnmotorsport 1 856 456 3605. 9 to 7 pm est.
I am looking to purchase a Mark 8 and want to get some performance near my current mustang. What kind of rpm are you running at 80mph. The stang is at 2500rpm at 80mph w/3.73's. Anyone with other performance oriented suggestions please reply. I was thinking gear, exhaust, and chip.
Maybe there's something wierd about me, but unlike everyone else here I don't like such low gears in my car. I've run 3.73 motorsports before and was not happy with the overall effect it had on the performance. Around town was a ball but interstate driving wasnt near as nice , not only that mileage went down alot. I plan to run 3.27 factory LSC gears in my 93 or 3.55s, nothing lower.
It's a matter of preference, this is certainly something alot of board members will probably disagree on.
