"98 MKVIII MSD Wires?"

I am confused?

I called MSD for the specific set of Plug Wires for my 98 MKVIII (32229, he stated there is no distributor because each plug has its own coil, therefor you do not have conventional plug wires.

It this correct, summit racing has the 32229 MSD for my make and model.

Can I use the MSD wires?

Also, does anybody know where to get the coil to spark plug boots? the dealer wanted $24 bucks each, yeah right!!.

Thanks

Jeff

The '97 and '98 models use Coil On Plug (COP) and do not have wires.

I had a boot disintegrate and replaced the entire COP for $25 using Borg Warner parts.

4 cams of run and gun fun.

GMS sells a 4V COP kit with all new silicone boots (better than factory quality) and it includes the connectors ("wires"). They also sell coils but they expensive for the pack of 8...

98 Black/Graphite LSC (13.22 @ 106.2mph)
96 Black/Black Base (14.93 @ 95.79mph)
95 Black/Pearl LSC (13.8 @ 101.3mph) RIP

I checked those GMS boots, can i use the boots with the angle, on the original coils, the direct replacement boots are straight.

Thanks

Wait, which boots are you talking about? If you buy the coil package it comes with different boots than the ones that come in the connecter kit (boots and wires). The boots that come with the GMS connecter kit will fit the stock coils, they are designed for them. The boots for the aftermarket GMS coils, i'm not sure if they will fit the stock coils or even if you can buy those boots seperately. Might want to give them a call...

I did a little research, Visteon Ignition Products shows it to be the straight boot 60-1001 in their catalog.
