Recently my radiator fan started making a loud noise when its on. Sounds like it needs some lube so I sprayed it down with WD40 pretty good but its still noisy. Any ideas how I can make it quiet again?
What kind of loud noise? Is it a grinding or whining noise? If so the bearings in the motor may have went out. You may be looking at a new fan, or picking one up at a junk yard.
>New fan motor is what it needs, from the symptoms. Just be >sure the replacement spins the right direction,...
Once you get past that this is about the easiest thing you can do on a Mark. Drill the old rivets out and replace with 1/4 x 20 and drop it back in. Don't think I even used a whole gallon of antifreeze on the refill.

Don't know if it will or not but - some of the application guides will say it doesn't fit because the original is "hard mounted" to the cowl and therefore it's all one assembly. Iow, they don't want to sell you just the motor, you have to pay for the cowl you don't really need too. I'd say at that price give it a shot, but find out about the rotation that Cal posted about and be very aware of your return options before you plunk down the cash.

I was on the same boat with my 97LSC. Radiator fan started with making noise and eventually blew the maxi-fuse three times. I ended up buying a replacement from Auto-Zone (GEN I Application). Drilled out the rivets and installed some bolts and nuts from Home-Depot. The fan spins in the right direction and is very quiet.
I did post this on the drivetrain sectiin incase you'd like to look it up
