"1996 A/C"

My A/C worked fine for many years, ice cold and right now. Since last November, I have not used it. Today, I checked the level of freon & it's fine, but the compressor will NOT turn on. All the relays work (when switched with another that I knew worked, and fuses are all good.

Suggestions?

Is the radiator fan turning? If it's not the AC won't cut in...

Yes it is, but does not turn on when we switch on the A/C

We ran car long enough for fan to turn on via heat. We could not get it for A/C

It's supposed to run all the time with AC on regardless of car temperature......... sounds like it's only running on high speed probably the motor?

Yah, what is it that we can do to assess the fan speed?

It shuts off when the A/C is turned on
