This question has been posted many times. Here are some answers:
If the picture is already on a website, you can place it in the body of your message by typing in its URL. A URL (Universal Resource Locator) looks like this: "http://www.markviii.org/imagefilename". Leave out the quotation marks. An image name usually ends in jpg, gif or bmp, like "picture.gif", or "image.jpg". You can right click on an image in Internet Explorer and choose properties to find out the URL of an image.
To upload an image that you have, there are two requirements. First, the picture needs to be in digital form. If it is in your computer, it is in digital form. If you have a photograph, there are a few ways to make it digital. A scanner or a digital camera, can transform your photograph into a digital image. Most photo processing places now offer to convert your regular negative film into digital form stored on floppy discs or CD's. It is best to upload your images to the Internet in gif or jpg form, because these are the most compact. Any image editor, such as Paint which is standard on Windows, can convert one image form to another - just it "save as" under File. The second requirement to showing pictures is to have your pictures on the Internet. To do this you need some webspace and a program to upload your files. Most ISP's such as AOL, Comcast, AT&T, etc. offer you some free personal webspace. They also give directions on how to download the free web management programs. If your ISP does not offer webspace, you can still post a picture on the web using a service such as http://www.photobucket.com, http://imgur.com, or any number of other photo sharing services. In Internet Explorer, to post a Photobucket/imgur/etc. picture in your message, right click on the image and choose properties, copy the URL and paste it into your message.
